Here is the CD with some photos of my current work. I have some new stuff since I've shot the film, and wish it could be included, but that's the way it goes. I end up feeling that my fresh, current stuff is always the best. Churning out new ideas.

Looking over the images, I think my favorites are #001, 018, 012, 004, 003. I hope those numbers translate (you probably figured out that computers are not my forte).

Feel free to pick ones you like, or ask a friend, or maybe your dog, if you have one.

All the pieces are works on paper (140lb watercolor stock), done with india ink and brush (some of them have acrylic washes). They measure 15" x 22".

Yes, I would sell or trade them. $50 a piece (unframed, of course).

I enjoyed our conversation the other evening and I think I understand where you are coming from with your attitude towards this website. I've never been good about writing artistic statements, in fact, it's a big struggle for me.

I love uncommercialized art spaces, and lean heavily towards a community that has such venues. The web is an excellent place for this, as you well know. It's new territory for me, and the tip of the iceberg (I hope). I'm glad you enjoyed the videos I directed and am psyched you want to put them on your website.

I think you might find the paintings interesting as well. The paintings stem from my desire to use everyday objects in unusual ways. A lot of them are studies for sculptures I want to make some day.

My influences in these pieces are furniture, surrealism, minimalism, bored-ism, being an expectant father, a couple picture books about animals and medical equipment.

Unfortunately, my artistic community is far-flung, and I communicate electronically. I often feel like I'm creating in a vacuum. I miss the Albuquerque days. The Twin Cities have a thriving art scene, and I'm hoping to become part of it. Time, time. I'm thankful that Mary put me in touch with you, and thank you all for the opportunity to show my work.

DIG IT.

Sincerely,

-- Bret
